***And my goddess spoke:***
I pay homage to you, mind itself:
primordial lucid clarity by nature,
satisfying all needs and desires,
like a wish-fulfilling jewel.
For your benefit I will explain
*Stages in the Path of Fantasy,*
the central theme that is the quintessence
of the minds of the ocean of victors.
Beginningless basic space itself,
primordially nonexistent fantasy,
is the seed of all phenomena,
the buddha nature, and virtue.
It is known as the essential base of all.
If you practice like magic,
you awaken like magic
through the power of devotion.
So listen well as I duly explain
the five paths and ten bhumis as fantasy.
The entire animate and inanimate world
and whatever appears to the five senses
is all the empty image of my Body.
My Body is boundless fantasy.
You should take into practice
all the wings of awakening
as inseparable from the image of my Body.
The stages on the five paths and ten bhumis
are traversed on the strength of devotion.
The sublime vital point of the tantras' intention
is to never be separate from the Beloved's manifestation.
Thus, the extraordinary practice
is to experience all the sights and sounds of phenomena
as the nature of myself and the Beloved.
Shapes, colors, the five poisons,
and types of accomplishing activity are the five buddha families.
Whatever appears is appearance and emptiness:
creation and completion and their unity.
One should know this through the purifying vase empowerment,
the secret empowerment of inseparable white and red essences,
the third empowerment, the aspect of bliss,
and the fourth inexpressible empowerment.
Where there is bliss, clarity, and nonthought,
there the three kāyas are naturally arising.
Clarity without concept is twofold knowledge.
## The paths
Since wisdom and nourishing delight
are combined together,
and since it is supreme,
and one desires to arrive, it is called "path."
## The path of accumulation
The Path of Accumulation
is to renounce vice, however small,
and to take up virtue, gathering accumulations
in order to realize the fantasy of the nature of phenomena.
There are greater, intermediate, and lesser levels,
each formulated with further fourfold division:
four mindfulnesses, four renunciations,
and four bases of psychic power.
Carelessness and impaired mindfulness cause downfalls.
Therefore mindfulness is explained first.
### Four foundations of mindfulness
To practice mindfulness and awareness of
the fantasy of inseparable image-emptiness
of your soulless body as my Body
is the direct application of mindfulness to the body.
The reference-points of pleasure, pain, equanimity,
and the sensations of all designated phenomena
understood as mere sensation
are the direct application of mindfulness to sensation.
All phenomena are mind,
yet mind will not be found inside or outside.
Mind not existing at all except as fantasy
is the application of mindfulness to the mind.
Shrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas
label all things as phenomena.
To know them as random labels of mere names
is the application of mindfulness to phenomena.
### Four right exertions
Suffering is caused by nonvirtues.
Since those who desire freedom from it
regard all nonvirtue as though it were poison,
there are four right exertions.
In order to not generate vice and unvirtuous factors that have not arisen,
arouse determination, effort, and attention
to fully engage in what is right.
In order to renounce vice and unvirtuous factors that have not arisen,
arouse determination, effort, and attention
to fully engage what is right.
In order to generate virtuous attributes that have not arisen,
arouse determination, effort, and attention
to fully engage in what is right.
In order that virtuous attributes that have arisen may remain
and increase without any diminishing,
and not be lost or wasted,
arouse determination, effort, and attention
to fully engage in what is right.
